D²iCE Research Day 2024

On 11th October 2024, the D²iCE Research Centre of the University of Limerick organized the Research Day following their approval as a Research Centre. This event was an opportunity for the D²iCE researchers to present their research updates and stay informed about the group's research interests.
The event opened with a welcome address from Dr. Eoin Grua, followed by an Introduction to D²iCE Research Centre by Prof. Pepijn Van de Ven. D²iCE researcher Dr Luis Sigcha presented the Results of the WEALTH project, followed by presentations from D²iCE researchers Mirza Akhi and Daniel Jakab on their research updates. The poster session was arranged alongside coffee break. There were 6 posters presented by D²iCE researchers.
The Director of the Regional Writing Centre, Mr. Lawrence Cleary, gave an informative session on technical writing, which was helpful to the newly joined PhD researchers in the group. The afternoon session started with an invited talk from Luigi Borzì on the topic Applying Machine Learning in Sensors Signals for Movement Analysis in Parkinson's Disease. It was followed by presentations from D²iCE researchers Vimal Kumar, Ehsan Namjoo and Juan Albarracin.
The event concluded at 4:30 pm with a 6-8pm get-together at the Pavilion. Thirty people attended, and 10 members joined online. D²iCE Researchers Dr. Eoin Grua and Reenu Mohandas organized this event.
